Ransomeware everywhere...

Lately I have noticed a spike in ransomware all over. I like to read about this stuff because I have always been interested in computers and how to keep things safe. Like technology advancing, so do the scams and bad characters. It's an uphill battle but I want to remind everyone that you need to pay attention to things closely because anyone can fall for a scam or ransomware. Whether that be a car you're trying to purchase on facebook market place, or an apartment that you saw on craigslist. These are just two sites I have noticed plenty of scams, but also how bad real sites are as well. You'll see listing for things that are no longer available for example, or someone from say another state puts up an ad with a local place or car near you. But when you just read the ad or look at the phone number area code, it's not even a local number. The worst part is that these sites don't have a good way to report bad actors or filter things better so that you're not getting all these things that you may not even need. It's unfortunate but this is what you can expect until sites get better. In the meantime you have to just be aware of things just like in the real world. And remember, that computers are like cars, they will always need people to administer and fix them. They will break down over time, they may get ransomware, or they'll just need to be maintained like anything else. Many places seem to place this at the bottom of their lists, but in today's digital age, you just can't do that anymore. Also, don't give anyone your information online. Meet in person but also do your best to verify as much as you can. Is the ad real or just another fake? There's just so much out there that you really need to slow down, read, pay attention. Also, watch out for emails from people you don't know. Delete anything that you didn't ask for. My goal is not to scare anyone, but hopefully just make you more aware. Just like in the real world, you need to pay attention to your surroundings. The news are full of terrible things.

More ransomware attacks on credit unions.

Finally got around to installing opnsense.

I finally got opnsense installed on the firewall computer. As you can see from the diagram it's behind the other router since I'm just testing this for now. I also needed to make sure I changed the ip to keep this from conflicting with each other. I eventually figured it out so now I just need to play with it. It's been raining a lot so I had to play with this a bit. I thought I play with the diagrams.net program a little bit as well. I need to keep track of the ips so this should come in very handy since I can use one of the default templates. Kind of cool.
