Craftbot usb stick and usb adapter

February 20, 2015

I just got my usb adapter for this printer since having the usb cable that connects to the computer goes straight out and into the brother printer. I wanted to try one of those 90 degree adapters and I just got it in the mail. Unfortunately the darn thing faces up instead of  down. So even though it works, now I have had to just put the usb cable through the shelf since it's a wire sheld and hang it from the top so that the adapter won't get caught. I needed this since the craftbot is in this shelf along with the regular brother printer. In short, getting this to work has been as simple as I had thought. It's not a huge deal but I wanted to make sure that connector doesn't get damaged. Not that either of the printers get moved, but just in case I have to move one or the other, I don't want to accidentally whack the cable. In short here is what I have ended up with now. May I'll make some kind of holder later on, but I'll leave it alone for now.

Not the best looking thing, but there was no single right angle adapter like the one below for the printer usb connector which is what I was looking for.

So now that I at least gave the usb cable port more room, it actually sticks up instead of down.

The best thing to do now is just to put it through the shelf and let it hang. You can't win them all I guess...

Here is one of the other usb adapters I got for the top of the printer, but it worked better here so I don't kick the cable since this is under the shelf right in front of my feet. The cable was coming straight out too.

I ended up using the blue adapter that is at a right angle to the usb port on the top of the printer because this one stuck out too much and it would just be a matter of time before I knocked it right off. The blue sits along the top and doesn't move like this one did. So that worked better and at least I was able to make use of both adapters. I got both since I wasn't sure which one would work best on top of the Crafbot. I'm starting to use the usb stick a little more now since I can turn the computer off and not have all this stuff on when I need to print.
